Issue: Issue where you cannot change the default program a certain file extension opens

Affects: .doc files and probably others

Solution/Process: If you use the “Set default programs” wizard or change the default program using the “always use this program” box, sometimes you will not be able to change the extension back. For example, a user accidentally changed .doc to open with Outlook and then could not change it back to Word.

You should download a program called “Types” http://types.sourceforge.net/ . Install it, then right click on the extension (in this case .doc) and go to properties. Then go to actions and browse to the winword.exe location and set it. Then go back to class and uncheck “Use linked class”. Close the program and try to open the file.
